Mission Statement

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago's mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Chicago (BBBSChi) carefully matches children and youth "Littles," with positive volunteer mentors, whom we call "Bigs." Throughout the course of their mentoring relationship ("match"), we monitor and support the match, providing safety and quality measures, as well as outcome-based activity ideas and goals. Through the Community Based Program and a variety of Site Based Programs, all Littles receive consistent, long-standing support from a mentor and their dedicated BBBSChi match support specialist.

Matches spend time together engaging in outcome-based activities that intentionally focus on increasing social skills, developing positive behaviors while avoiding risky ones, developing self-esteem, combating isolation, enhancing academic engagement and performance, and planning for the future. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.

to whom it may concern... my name is Artamese Prewitt an i have a passion to be working with teens. I feel that i will be a great candidate working with teenagers showing them positive out looks on life . Im a great person with a positive attitude. I grew up in the south side of Chicago where i still reside an nothing hurts me more than teens needing positive role models I see it every day. I feel that my aspects of life can help teens steer in the right direction helping them to avoid the place's where I've been an seeing things that i have seen. I understand that a child only knows what they have seen but a child can always learn about what they need to know to be a better person.I honestly will like to take time out my day to provide some teens with knowledgeable thoughts,a positive attitude an leader ship skills.
