Military Veteran Volunteers Honor Hospice Patients Who Served

Are you a military veteran seeking ways to serve your fellow veterans? Mid-Michigan Hospice is seeking veteran volunteers to assist with: Personal visits to patients who are veterans. Sometimes only another veteran can listen with true understanding and provide the emotional support that's needed. Honoring patients who are veterans. Our pinning ceremonies are so much more meaningful when honors are presented by someone who also served. We are so thankful for your military service, and we would be delighted to have your help in honoring and supporting our patients who are also veterans.

Hospice Patient Visitors Needed in Lansing Area

You can make a huge difference for a hospice patient and their family simply by making friendly visits! Your companionship, conversation and encouragement can help someone feel less alone at a difficult time. What would you be doing during your visit? You might read to someone, work on a jigsaw puzzle together, listen to music, look through photo albums, play a game of cards, or attend an activity with them at their care facility. Maybe you'll just sit and talk and reminisce about the old days. We have a patients in the area who'd really enjoy having a visitor. We'll make sure that all precautions are followed so you and everyone else feels safe. We're not asking for you to be a caregiver, just someone who is willing to have a conversation. Hospice Volunteers Give Practical Help to Caregivers

You could be a huge support to a hospice patient and their family by helping out in simple, practical ways. What a difference it makes to have some help with the laundry or the vacuuming for someone who is caring for their loved one at home! Do you know how to load a dishwasher? Can you fold a basket of towels? Do you love to dust? You may be someone's godsend. You can also help by simply sitting. Sometimes family caregivers need someone to stay with their loved one while they go to an appointment, do the shopping or get a haircut. We call this a "respite" visit. Legacy Project Volunteer: Help Hospice Patients Tell Their Story!

Are you artistic or crafty? Do you enjoy hearing and telling stories? We are looking for volunteers who are interested in working with our patients and families, creating memories that their families will keep to remember their loved ones. You could take photos or video, put togther a photo album, help label a box of old pictures, listen to and write down stories, even create and edit videos. All volunteers are required to go through a background check and tb test.
