Mission Statement
In our minds, an Indigo Girl is a self-identifying young woman who is aware of her existence as a powerful person in the world. Through diverse mediums, we aim to educate and create discussion surrounding current societal themes for girl's, themes relevant in both local and global contexts. We foster a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive space to learn and engage together as growing young women.
Description
Indigo Girls is an organization run by young women for young women. We are a registered non-profit that is built for cis and trans women and non-binary folx who are comfortable in a space that centres around the experiences of women. Through diverse mediums, we aim to educate and create discussion surrounding current societal themes for self-identifying girls. We aim to foster a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space to learn and engage together. Our focuses are on youth engagement, discussion-based learning, independent growth and development, self-esteem, mental and physical wellness, and equipping girls with tools to become change-makers in life.
We operate in 5 Ontario cities, Halifax, and Winnipeg, running free programming for self-identifying adolescent girls. Our programming consists of weekly clubs, workshops, and speaking events. The Directors positions are done completely remotely and therefore we are accepting applicants from anywhere in Canada.
