Mission Statement
Riverside is committed to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future and ensuring the City’s capacity to persevere, adapt and grow during good and difficult times alike. The Council unanimously adopted a triple bottom line approach focusing on Social Responsibility, Environmental Stewardship and Economic Prosperity.
Description
The City of Riverside demonstrates its commitment to clean air through its award-winning Green Fleet (no. 4 in North America), Climate Action Plan, Biosolids conversion to green fuel project, Renewable Resource utility portfolio, alternative fuel station and collaboration with stakeholders and partner agencies. The City of Riverside was selected, through a competitive process, to be the new home of the Air Resources Board Southern California headquarters (opening Spring 2021) , a 19-acre campus with approximately 380,000 square-foot facility that will be one of the largest and most advanced vehicle emissions testing and research facilities in the world. It will also be the largest 'net-zero energy’ structure (producing as much energy as it uses) of its type in the nation. The facility will also be designed to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification.
