Mission Statement

Our Core Values - BCM is a Christian ministry, extending its services based on principles of Hospitality (Generosity, Empathy & Safety) to all people regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. Our Mission - BCM exists to strengthen, equip and encourage the Homewood Community with hope through providing human services, youth ministry, counseling and education as a tangible expression of God’s love. Our Vision - BCM is committed to seeing the Homewood community experience spiritual, emotional, physical, educational and economic growth.

Description

Bethany Community Ministries, a 501(c)3, non-profit organization was founded in 1999, as Diakonia Ministries, Inc., the vision if Pastor William R. Glaze and the leadership of Bethany Baptist Church. BCM supports a variety of programs whose goals are to "Transform Lives Through Service". Our programs are:
1. The BCM Summer Youth Program, a summer day camp for children. It is a free feeding site for children, 18 years and younger to receive free breakfast and lunch.
2. Master's Kitchen provides free lunch to anyone who comes, on Friday afternoon, from 12 to 2 PM. Our COVID-19 response has been to provide three, home cooked meals to everyone.
3. The BCM Food Pantry distributes fresh produce, shelf stable foods, hygiene products, cleaning products and pet food every 3rd Saturday of the month.
***We adhere to all Department of Health and COVID-19 requirements
3. The Turn Around Agenda supports the children attending Pittsburgh Faison K-5, by providing in-school mentors and tutors.
a.BCM Learning Hub, providing a safe space for children to connect to their online school, have lunch and be under supervision
b.The Shawl Project is a group of fiber artist who make items of warmth for those in need; the homeless, Veterans, sick and shut-in, and others.
c. Soul Fit Workouts presents a low impact exercise program for all ages and levels of fitness. Saturdays at 9:30 AM
