Nonprofit Junior Board (for young professionals and committed college students) Status: Volunteer (unpaid) 2-6 hours/month Board term: 1 year with the ability to renew each year; meetings held every other month to start, then as needed Dare Humanity is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization founded in 2015 based in Riverside, California, and serving rural Haiti and the capital Port au Prince. Our mission is to advocate for an enhanced life for women, children and families who live in underserved and isolated communities, by fostering their development and self-sufficiency. Dare Humanity currently focuses its efforts in Pierre Payen, an isolated rural Haitian community made of humble mud-wall houses built with scrap materials, as well as in Port-au-Prince. Currently, Dare Humanity runs two programs, focusing on educational opportunities, and food scarcity and distribution. Position Overview & Basic Function: A junior board member is a subgroup of the board of directors of Dare Humanity and is accountable to the Founder and Board. The core responsibilities of a junior board member is duty of care - fulfilling their role to their best abilities; duty of loyalty - conducting activities in the best interest of the organization; and duty of obedience - acting in accordance with the organization’s governing documents and federal and state regulations. We are also looking for a junior board lead which would serve as the junior board leader with the responsibility to oversee the group and oversee projects (an additional 1-3 hours/week) Core Responsibilities: Understand Dare Humanity's mission, vison and program Holds members accountable for their tasks Attend junior board meetings every other month and at least two regular board meetings a year Provide advice and suggestions to the Board of Directors and Founder. Assist with recruitment and engagement of young donors and volunteers. Gain exposure to nonprofit marketing and communications, fundraising, governance, programs, entrepreneurship and leadership. Assist in the acquisition of resources for the organization - raise $500/year - we will train you! Serve as an advoacte for the organization Lead small campaign projects Experience and Attributes: Understanding and supporting the mission of Dare Humanity. A commitment to serving underserved communities and youth in developing countries. Ability to apply our values in relationship development, written work, and communication. Video Design Intern Status: Intern (unpaid) 4-8 hours per week (six month commitment is preferred, 4 months is appreciated) Reports to: Executive Director/Founder The Video Design Intern works closely with the Executive Director/Founder. The Communications department exists to build awareness, educate, and solicit individuals & companies interested in supporting Dare Humanity. Strongly preferred: someone currently pursuing or who has obtained a degree in Nonprofit Administration, Communications, video editing, or a closely related field. Core Responsibilities: Assisting with the development of communications and marketing campaigns and strategy, including thinking creatively about campaign videos for storytelling, as well as implementing the logistics of campaigns. Developing videos to reach partners, donors, corporations and funders on social media (Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, Facebook) and YouTube (Shorts and long form videos). Designing and creating captions for videos for social media (LinkedIn) and email (MailChimp), including scheduling. Assisting with other markerting efforts as needed. Specific hours, start and end dates are flexible and to be determined between the intern and the Executive Director/Founder. Job Qualifications: Experience and Knowledge Understanding and supporting the mission of Dare Humanity. A commitment to serving underserved communities and youth in developing countries. Ability to apply our values in relationship development, written work, and communication. Experience with video design and editing, managing simple projects with minimal supervision, and providing outstanding work. Excellent organizational and written communication skills. The Communications department exists to build awareness, educate, and solicit individuals & companies interested in supporting Dare Humanity. Composing or improving processes for communication and marketing with donors and followers, including thank you letters, and outreach to potential donors. Developing communications materials and graphics, including toolkits for branding and Dare Humanity team members and ambassadors. Developing materials for Dare Humanity events, fundraisers, etc. Assisting with our blog efforts. Designing and creating content for social media (LinkedIn) and email (MailChimp) Specific hours, start and end dates are flexible and to be determined between the intern and the Executive Director/Founder.
