It is the mission of the San Mateo County Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention Commission to be a public conscience in the best interest of juveniles. The Commission advocates for programs and services that prevent juvenile delinquency and that promote respect for the human dignity of all minors who come in contact with the juvenile justice system.
The Commission is a 15 member volunteer organization with oversight responsibilities for the juvenile justice system. Commissioners’ responsibilities include: monthly meeting attendance, project participation, and annual inspections of locked-facilities. We make recommendations to the San Mateo County Juvenile Court, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the Board of State and Community Corrections and Rehabilitation.
