Mission Statement

Screening for Coronavirus Antibodies in Neighborhoods (SCAN) is a research study with the aim of learning how different neighborhoods throughout Chicago are affected by COVID-19 by looking for virus antibodies in blood samples from Chicago residents. Our goal is to analyze thousands of blood samples to better understand how individuals, households, and entire neighborhoods have been exposed to COVID-19.

Description

Equal representation among neighborhoods and participant demographics is critical, so the SCAN study team is reaching out to community-based organizations around Chicago for help in recruiting participants.

Anyone who is interested in participating in the study can visit scan.northwestern.edu and complete the sign-up survey. After completing the sign-up survey, you will be informed if you are selected to take part in the study.

Participants will be mailed a free at-home antibody test kit that they will mail back to us using prepaid postage and will be able to view their results online.
