During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Breaking the language barrier with newcomers to Canada and bridging the social divide between people of all ages, particularly the senior citizens in our local community.
Silver Connect is an organization started by 4 Western University students with intentions to bridge the gap between students and the seniors in the community through telephone conversations. However, seeing as that project didn't receive the traction we would've liked, we have slightly deviated from this and have focused on a new population---newcomers to Canada and those who want to practice their English. Like with the senior project, our volunteers will be paired with those who want to practice conversational English, helping them build confidence in speaking this foreign language. As the team has expanded with time, we also took on bigger projects to serve the local London community such as musical performances at senior care centers featuring local London artists and being involved with a garden that donates its produce to a homeless shelter in London, and care packages to those in need in our local community.
