Mission Statement

Communities of Belonging's mission is to empower marginalized populations to dream, connect and thrive. Along with community allies we support formerly homeless and incarcerated individuals with a holistic, restorative reentry into society through safe and affordable housing, access to relevant resources and opportunities to heal and grow.

Description

Communities of Belonging is a Washington State non-profit empowering formerly incarcerated and homeless populations with holistic support and peaceful reintegration into society.

We build safe, trusting and caring connections and weave them together with practical, tangible resources so that marginalized individuals feel a sense of belonging, purpose and contribution.

For the last two years our two Restorative Homes have provided marginalized individuals with the opportunity to live in a caring, conscious, clean and sober community.

Our broader program gathers weekly for a community circle designed to build relationships with allies of all backgrounds and histories.

We also host Community Conversations designed to put a human face on the complex issues of incarceration and homelessness. Through vulnerability and the sharing of personal stories we strive to reduce fear and stigma and to build allies through thoughtful dialogue and understanding. Please contact us if your organization or neighborhood is interested in hosting one of these events!
