Virtual Opportunity
As part of our Community Connections phone reassurance program, we are looking for volunteers to call Meals on Wheels West recipients to check on their health and wellness. Volunteers will be asked to reach out to approximately 2-4 isolated and homebound individuals for friendly conversation and social connectedness. By participating in the Meals on Wheels West Community Connections phone reassurance program, volunteers will be alleviating the social isolation that comes from social distancing and being homebound. Volunteers can sign up for Tuesdays or Thursdays. All volunteers undergo training as well as a mandatory background check before making calls (background check takes approximately 3-5 days to complete). Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: As a volunteer, you will call individuals who are homebound. A script will be provided. When you sign up for this program, please specify whether you are signing up as an individual or as a group. If you are signing up as a group, please include the number of people in your group in the initial email. Time Commitment: Community Connections is a relationship driven program that relies upon consistent bi-weekly communication between a volunteer and assigned clients. While the length of time commitment is less than an hour twice a week and the time of day can be varied, please be committed to making your calls. Please let us know if you plan on a vacation or need to take a leave of absence. INTERESTED? Click 'I WANT TO HELP' above and we will follow up with additional information and details. QUESTIONS?
