The Longest Day is the day with the most light -- the summer solstice. The Longest Day participants fight the darkness of Alzheimer's and all other dementia through a fundraising activity of their choice on a day that works for them. With sports tournaments, card games, parties, baking and more, participants raise funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. For the first time, we have treatments that can change the course of Alzheimer's. While this is a tremendous step forward, our work is far from done. We won't rest until everyone living with the disease -- at any stage -- can get the treatment, care and support they need and deserve. We are looking for Committee members to help us promote the event and fundraising efforts, and make it an even better and bigger success this year. We are looking for volunteers to assist with community engagement efforts including hosting fundraising and awreness events and recruiting new leaders, engaging with local businesses, recognizing donors and fundraisers, and building public awareness through media outlets. We meet virtually on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 5:00pm but attendance is not required to help fill a role - whether it be postings on social media, phoning past teams/participants- every little bit helps. If you would like more information about the Committee and/or are interested in hosting a fundraiser, please contact Kirsten Guanella, Development Director, at knguanella@alz.org or (707) 297-3233 Make a difference in the lives of the individuals and families living with Alzheimer's disease by helping us put on our annual fundraiser!

Do you have a personal relationship to Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, and a passion for improving research, care and support for others affected by this disease? If so, please consider volunteering to help us engage your elected officials in the movement to end Alzheimer's disease. Conquering Alzheimer's disease is as much a matter of public policy as scientific discovery. The Alzheimer's Association is leading the fight to end Alzheimer's by advocating for public policies to increase the federal investment in research and improve care and support for people with the disease and their families. By educating and engaging your elected representatives on Alzheimer's, YOU can save lives. No prior policy experience is required, and we will give you all the information, training and support you need to be a great advocate! The time commitment can be small but the rewards can be huge! Our advocacy volunteers work with their elected officials at the local, state and federal level to: Cultivate relationships Educate them about Alzheimer's disease Engage them in supporting the Alzheimer's Association's public policy priorities Advocacy volunteers work with other local volunteers and Association staff to strategize, plan, organize and participate in a wide range of activities to educate and engage their elected representatives, including: Meeting with elected officials Raising awareness through local media Sparking social media conversations Coordinating events and volunteers Reaching out to partner organizations To learn more about opportunities for advocacy volunteers in your area, please contact Shelley Dombroski, sdombroski@alz.org, 707.573.1210
