The mission of the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, Inc., is to partner with the community to eliminate poverty and create social change through advocacy and essential services.
Description
The Work Success Now! Project will utilize AmeriCorps/California Volunteers members to provide financial literacy training and job placement supported services to unemployed, underemployed, and low wage earners living in poverty in Santa Cruz County, with an emphasis on High Need Day Workers. The project’s goals are to increase client employability and financial knowledge by 50%, and recruit additional volunteers to support the work of the project. Full (1700 hrs) and part time (675) member opportunities available. Members will be trained in project goals and AmeriCorps duties and commitment. Essential Responsibilities, Minimum Skills and Abilities: 1. Follows CAB and AmeriCorps procedures and policies. 2. Provide one-on-one and small group job support and financial literacy services to identified low-income, and high need beneficiaries, with an emphasis on Day Workers. Training on these topics will be provided. 3. Record and enter data about attendance, activities and outcomes on forms, in folders, and databases. Keep detailed documentation, as noted in member manual. 4. Maintain client confidentiality and model a professional code of ethics and appropriate dress. 5. Proficient in verbal and written English; Bilingual (Spanish) proficiency encouraged; ability to perform basic math. 6.Work effectively with people of diverse socio-economic backgrounds. AmeriCorps Requirements: Proof of citizenship, 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or GED at minimum, pass a background check, including DOJ level checks.
