About UMPCU
Uganda Meat Producers Cooperative Union (UMPCU) is a social enterprise comprised of 34 primary cooperative societies that engage in beef production on 2657 farms spread across the country.
Our model is built around a trajectory of a union of primary societies. We are registered as a Union of primary societies engaged in developing the beef value chain. Beyond this UMPCU is a recipient of funds from European union (EU), NOGSERVEL (Norway) and ZOETIS (Belgium) with such support, we have been able to establish livestock resource centers in various parts of the country. Based at these centers UMPCU offers a wide range of services in veterinary and pharmaceuticals to its member farmers and societies.
Our Volunteer Program
UMPCU’s Volunteer Program addresses the critical need for professionals in areas that lack sufficient resources for quality preventive and curative animal health services, the Program has placed practitioners from around the world to help develop and implement animal health interventions, work at livestock resource centers, and conduct veterinary clinical training for host primary societies. The ultimate goal of UMPCU's Volunteer Program is to support our Primary societies and member farmers by sending volunteers that are dedicated to strengthening livestock health systems and supporting a pattern of sustainable beef value chain development.
