Mission Statement

The Institute for families and Nannies is on a mission to change the paradigm. We believe nannies should meet the same standards required for anyone working in a licensed childcare facility. We believe parents should get necessary information and support to make an informed choice when hiring a nanny to care for their children. We believe preschool teachers should know how to care for children in home with parents as employers. Our mission is to elevate nannies out of the shadows to be seen supported and valued for the important work they do. We want parents to get the support to recognize quality when they see it. We believe quality childcare happens when parents and nannies work together and care together.

Description

TIFFAN is a grass roots organization providing education, training and mentorship to nannies and families to elevate standards for the nanny industry, create healthy working relationships and ensure the highest levels of quality care for children.

Currently we offer the following programs:

Nanny Pro Certification: This program helps participants gain certification as a Nanny Pro obtaining all of the necessary documents required by the state to work with children. Also includes helpful information for nannies on compensation and benefits, employment contracts interview preparations and job search support. Participants will leave with a Professional Nanny Portfolio with all documents stored in a secure online web platform with lifetime access.

Nanny Certification Program at Foothill College: This is a 21 unit Certificate of Achievement in Nanny, Family and Child Studies offered through Foothill College's Early Childhood Education Department and certified with the State of California's Board of Education.
(*This will be the first Nanny Early Childhood Education Program certified by a higher education institution in the US.)

How to Hire a Nanny that Fits: This program takes a deep dive with parents into the essential steps to conduct a professional search on how to find the a nanny that is the best fit for your family.
