The mission of North Valley Food Bank is to distribute food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
North Valley Food Bank receives food through our grocery store rescue program, Feeding America, the USDA, community donations, and sometimes purchased. We glean and repackage food items, and then distribute them to the community each week. We are open for distribution 14 hours a week at our facility in Whitefish. We also host mobile pantries semi-monthly in Trego, Olney, and Essex, and are intending to launch new sites in Evergreen and Fortine this July. Additionally, we facilitate about 75 food deliveries each Friday and daily summer meals for kids in West Valley and Olney. There are no eligibility requirements for our customers to receive food.
We conduct all of these programs with a staff of 7, plus countless volunteers. This past month volunteers worked 424 hours, packed 844 boxes and sacks, distributed 36,160 pounds of food, conducted 6 mobile pantries, and delivered to 280 households. We couldn't do this incredible work without the support of our community and volunteers.
