This position is a part of the Notre Dame - AmeriCorps program. NDA members strive to empower communities through education and personal hands-on support. They offer small group and one-on-one instruction to children and adults (literacy, GED, and ESL), organize after-school enrichment activities, model and teach conflict resolution, and involve community professionals in the learning process. Members commit to at least 900 hours of service over 6 months (Jan. to July). The NDA member for this position would serve with Safe Alternative Foundation for Education (SAFE). SAFE acts on the belief that all students should have access to quality education and the resources and opportunities that will assist them in achieving their goals. SAFE provides after school, weekend, and summer learning educational opportunities through vocational programs that provide real-world application as well as exposing students to the world outside of their community. For more details, go to https://www.safealternative.org/. Responsibilities: Assist with the delivery and development of existing wood-shop & employment certification programs. Develop and administer workshop materials, lessons, and enrichment activities for daily lessons. Keep weekly attendance records and notes regarding student participation. Monitor student enrollment within the program. Advertise for, screen, and recruit program participants.. Assist with organizing outreach events and job fairs to promote the services of the organization. Participate & work with other staff to implement strategic plans. Additional Requirements: NDA seeks to build community among our members, as well as the people with whom we serve. Members attend regular bi-weekly meetings as NDA team, which focus on reflection, training, service projects, and professional development. Focus on STEAM, Literacy, and Health & Fitness Programming. Members commit to at least 1700 hours of service over 11 months (August to June). The NDA member for this position would serve with Immigration Outreach Service Center. Immigration Outreach Service Center (IOSC) is an independent non-profit organization that serves the needs of immigrants in Baltimore & surrounding areas. The mission of the IOSC is to create a pathway for success by listening to and partnering with immigrants within a safe environment, regardless of immigration status, race, ethnicity, sexual identity, or religious affiliation, and to walk together on our common journey to a more just and secure future. I. General Description: Working as part of the IOSC team, the tutor will be responsible for helping to create an enriching environment for immigrant learners. Areas of study include ESOL, financial & computer literacy, and after-school tutoring. Responsibilities: Develop and implement educational programs for adult language education, financial literacy, and computer literacy education. Members commit to at least 1700 hours of service over 11 months (August 2024 to June 2025). The NDA member for this position would serve with Boys Hope Girls Hope Baltimore. We are looking for a Youth Mentor to join our team to help academically capable and motivated children in need to meet their full potential and become men and women for others by providing value-centered, family like homes, and opportunities through college. A minimum of 2 years college is preferred or a minimum of 5 years experience working with adolescents. The ideal candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team. MUST have a current driver's license with a good driving record of at least 3 years. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred. All candidates are required to complete and pass a physical/drug screening, criminal, and motor vehicle background check. I. General Description: Working as part of the BHGH team, the Youth Mentor (YM) will be responsible for helping to create a home environment conducive to nurturing the overall wellness of the Scholars. The YM will manage the day-to-day operations of one of the two BHGH homes, with up to 8 Scholars in each home. Duties include: Creating or following a schedule to ensure that all Scholars are able to attend to their academic and extracurricular activities Homework assistance and/or tutoring Role modeling social skills and teaching daily living skills Coordinates communication with Scholars’ families Responsible for identifying safety issues related to the home and reporting those issues to the Program Director and/or House Manager Transporting Scholars to and from school Meal planning, including co-creating a weekly menu, food shopping and meal preparation Creating or following a chore list for the Scholars and performing light housekeeping duties Reporting to the Program Director or House Manager daily Monitoring Scholars and highlighting any concerns that need to be addressed in regards to their emotional and physical health Helps to plan weekend enrichment activities Takes on-call overnight shifts as scheduled which entails sleeping on-site and being available in case of emergency II. Working Conditions: This position is a full-time, LIVE-IN position, room and board are included. A private living suite is provided for the Youth Mentor. The work schedule will vary depending upon the Scholars activities and will include some evenings and some weekends. Must be available to transport Scholars to and from school, as well as other activities, using the company vehicle. We are in need of an Education/Outreach Coordinator to join our team & aid the community of adult students in West Baltimore. I. General Description: Working as part of the Clay Pots team, the Education/Outreach Coordinator will be responsible, primarily, for helping to create an enriching environment for adult learners with the objective of helping them achieve set goals of passing the GED exam and preparing to enter to workforce. Responsibilities: Develop and implement educational programs for literacy education and adult language education. Lead a tutoring program for small groups & individuals. Create lesson plans and instructional materials for classroom and tutoring sessions. Manage classroom activities and ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Collaborate with other educators and community partners to develop and improve programs.
