Mission Statement

The Vigo County Historical Society's mission is to collect, preserve, and educate the public on the evolving history and culture of the Wabash Valley and maintain the Museum in a professional and educational manner.

Description

The Vigo County Historical Museum is home to over 100,000 objects, spanning the history of Vigo County and Terre Haute. Major collections include the Bindley Pharmacy and Coca-Cola memorabilia from the Root Family commemorating the birth place of the Coca-Cola bottle. In addition, the Museum has a vast research library of photographs and printed materials.

Situated in the heart of downtown, the History Center will join 7 other museums and galleries, dozens of restaurants and retail shops, Indiana State University, Hulman Center and hundreds of residents that help make up the vibrant Cultural District and Arts Corridor.
