Mission Statement

Maine Ocean School Foundation - keeping wind behind the sails of the Maine Ocean School Maine Ocean School Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization established to support, enhance, expand, and enrich students’ educational experiences through private donations, gifts, and grants. Maine Ocean School Foundation helps to carry out the mission and vision of Maine Ocean School by raising private funds to support programs beyond the core school budget. Our Board of Directors is a group of dedicated volunteers working hard to raise monies needed to support and assist the Maine Ocean School as it grows.

Our History and Purpose

The Maine Ocean School Foundation was created to raise supplemental funds through grants, gifts from organizations and individuals, and larger corporations to support Maine’s second public magnet school, Maine Ocean School.

As a magnet school, Maine Ocean School receives some funding from the state annually. Those funds alone do not cover the total cost of maintaining the school’s innovative curricula. Because the Maine Ocean School is a public magnet school that accepts students from throughout the state, school funding that is typically covered by resident taxpayer dollars is not available. The Foundation has taken up the challenge of raising funds to provide for activities, equipment, staff training and development, and innovative technology and curricula.

In the near future, the Foundation will be launching a capitol campaign for the purpose of establishing a permanent campus including on site housing.
