Mission Statement
Providing free, professional assistance to veterans and their families in obtaining benefits and services earned through military service and provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other agencies of government.
Description
DAV was founded in 1920 and chartered by Congress for the single purpose of building better lives for injured and ill veterans and their families. Veterans making the transition back to civilian life must overcome many obstacles, and we provide programs that address their overall health and well-being. Beyond helping hundreds of veterans from all eras each year access available government benefits, we fund rehabilitation and counseling programs, link veterans to job training programs and work to address homelessness. All DAV services are free. With the backing of our nearly 100,000 Californian members, we represent the voices of ill and injured veterans before Congress.
