Description

Shalonda Waggoner, a domestic violence survivor tuned advocate, established LatterHouse Decor 6 years ago as a result of the experiences that she had gone through with her now ex-husband. Shalonda made the brave decision to take her daughter and leave her abusive situation. Unfortunately, that also meant leaving behind all of the beautiful furnishings and decor that she loved. It also meant moving from place to place, sleeping on floors and no place for her and her daughter to call her on.

Through an amazing series of events, Shalonda was blessed with the keys to a place that they could call their own. it was empty and bereft of any furnishings or decor, but it was their own. After starting to attend a local congregation and getting involved with a fundraiser church sale, some of the congregants began to offer Shalonda different items to help make her place more homey feeling. Things came together and fell into place and suddenly her barren 4 walls, turned into somewhere filled with color and hope and peace.

After some time, Shalonda felt a calling to show the same kindness and to do it for free. She went back and forth for a while about what to call her organization and was finally led to Haggai 2:9 which reads "The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the Lord of hosts." And thus, LatterHouse Decor was born. 6 years and many trials and errors later, we have helped close to 30 brave domestic violence survivors get a beautiful new beginning!
