Volunteer Job Title: Food Shelf Volunteer Working in the food shelf is an extremely rewarding volunteer opportunity. It allows you to break down stereotypes and barriers regarding poverty. Because it is direct service, it allows you to see the impact of your actions when you are there. You'll also have the chance to work with a wonderful, energetic, passionate group of fellow volunteers who are all working towards the same goal of fighting hunger. Volunteers are needed Monday, from 9:00am - noon. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00pm - 4:00pm or from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Fridays, from 9-12:30pm Key Responsibilities and Roles: * Welcome clients into the food shelf and help with any questions * Direct clients through the Food Shelf, assisting with item selection and bagging * Stock the shelves and maintaining area cleanliness and organization * Respect client confidentiality Qualifications: * Customer service oriented - friendly, welcoming, sensitive and respectful * Able to multi-task * Flexible to move between different tasks * Able to lift 20lbs * Procedural training will be provided Time Commitment: Flexible Available Shifts: * Monday, 9:00am-12:00pm * Tuesday and Thursday: 1pm - 4pm or 4pm-7pm * Friday, 9-12:30pm Benefits: * Assisting with clients from the community as they receive food * Serving as the face of Valley Outreach while clients are visiting * The opportunity to use your communication skills to interact with clients and volunteers * Feeling recognized in a variety of ways

With emergency food needs rising, Valley Outreach needs volunteers to distribute prepacked food products to our clients. Volunteers will assist with various primary warehouse and distribution tasks such as sorting and stacking bulk food deliveries, discarding expired and /or damaged items, and maintaining work area space. The Details: Days: Monday, 8am - noon Wednesday: 8am -11am Tuesday and Thursday, 11am - 2pm, 1 pm - 4 p.m. or 4pm-7pm Friday, 8 am - 12:30 or 10am - 1pm Key responsibility: What you will get to do. Sort and store bulk food products that is delivered to our warehouse. Follow food safety guidelines provided for each category of product: bakery, dairy, deli and produce. Re-box product that is to be distributed to our clients. Dispose properly of product that does not meet guidelines. Take guidance and direction from Valley Outreach staff. Ensure a safe working space by following all warehouse safety guidelines. Expectation: Plastic gloves will be provided and should be worn while handling food. Must be able to lift 15-30 pounds. Must be able to bend and twist to pick up items. Time Commitment: two times per Month What’s in it for you? The knowledge that you will help feed people who come to shop at the Food Shelf. StyleXchange Store Volunteer Job Summary: We are looking for a socially confident volunteers to assist our clients with purchasing decisions, process transactions, and maintain a clean and visually appealing environment. The StyleXchange volunteer's responsibilities include assisting clients with questions, processing transactions, and arranging merchandise on shelves and in displays. To be successful as a StyleXchange volunteer, you should have an outgoing personality, interest or experience in customer service, and enjoy interacting with others. Ultimately, an exceptional StyleXchange volunteer should be able to provide clients with seamless, positive shopping experiences every time.
