LEGACY PARENTING CENTER

Description

Established in 2015 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation in the State of Oklahoma, Legacy Parenting Center serves families in Pottawatomie County and surrounding cities providing free parent education and resources. In 2019, we taught over 2100 parent education lessons to 338 parents with 566 children between them.

Clients range from 15 years old to 59 years old, mothers in middle school to grandparents raising grandchildren. Our program provides free parent education and resources from pregnancy to age 5. The early years are the most important in building a strong foundation for positive attachment, brain development, and overall well-being for years to come.

Clients earn points with each lesson that can be spent in The Legacy Store for items needed for their children. We believe in hand-ups, not handouts. Clients gain a sense of accomplishment and are empowered by participation in our program. The Legacy Store is stocked with diapers, wipes, clothing, *baby equipment and more. The most requested items in The Legacy Store are diapers and wipes. Over 95% of the families we serve use their points each week for diapers for their young children. Last year alone, we distributed over 84,000 individual diapers and 1600 packs of wipes through The Legacy Store.
