Mission Statement

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. The ultimate goal is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness by building efficient, adequate, basic housing for those in need.

Description

Tahlequah Area Habitat for Humanity (TAHFH) is a Christian housing ministry that builds and repairs houses in Cherokee County, Oklahoma for low and very low-income families that are selected and qualified. No profit is applied.

To date, (6/8/20) TAHFH has completed 28 homes and 59 critical repairs. With the goal of constructing one home a year, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer on a building site. To participate on a build, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. No prior construction experience is required. Tools and safety are provided on-site.

In addition to construction, TAHFH has two ReStore locations. Habitat for Humanity ReStores help fund the construction of our homes by reselling donated goods from the community. Our ReStore for home improvement also offers discounted building supplies. ReStore Rack, a clothing shop offers gently used and new clothing and accessories to the community. Those who wish to volunteer at one of our ReStore locations will work with staff to process donations and distribute goods to the sales floor. In addition, this opportunity provides experience in customer service. Volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Orientation, tour, and store safety are provided.
