Mission Statement
The Humane Society of Harris County is the only private, no-kill non profit animal adoption center in the county. Because we are a no-kill agency, we are also a limited intake agency. Priority is given to animals at high risk municipal shelters. HSHC also works closely with other private animal welfare agencies, in addition to providing animal welfare support to the community as well. We are only financially supported by individuals and businesses, and appreciate the support of our volunteers at the shelter and our thrift store Doggone Good Treasures.
Description
Founded in 1991, HSHC is dedicated to re-homing homeless dogs and cats and partners with various animal welfare agencies. We also have several community outreach programs including vaccine and microchip events, humane education programs, Petsmart adoption events every Saturday, and our Thrift store Doggone Good Treasures in Pine Mountain, Ga. We adopt out approximately450 animals each year and participate in Trap/Neuter/Release programs - ( about 125 feral cats/year.)
