To contribute to the sustainable development of the DRC by promoting the nutritional well-being of the population
African Health Development Organization (AHDO) aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the DRC by promoting the nutritional well-being of the population. AHDO works to ensure the prevention, surveillance and management of nutritional diseases; and to promote animal and plant production and good consumption.
Its areas of interventions include:
(a) Community food security in support of IGAs;
(b) Promotion of good food and nutritional practices for local foods;
(c) Health zones, health areas, health care providers, shelters, community leaders, nutritional monitoring of the population, growth monitoring and promotion; and
(d) Support for nutrition initiatives and activities in the community.
AHDO draws on primary health care strategies especially on:
(a) Improving household food security;
(b) Promotion of good food and nutritional practices; and (c) prevention of deficiency diseases whereby implementing the NAC approach.
