Mission Statement
Mission at the Eastward’s mission is to "love our neighbors" through volunteer home repairs and youth outreach to create lives of hope, security and dignity in Central Western Maine.
Description
Mission at the Eastward has been serving Western Central Maine for more than 50 years, through two main programs. Camp at the Eastward (CATE) provides a summer camp experience for youth in the area, especially those who are economically challenged, through providing scholarships. The facilities are located in rural Maine (Starks) and offers calm, quiet and peace, outdoor experience, relationships building and an introduction to moral and spiritual values.
We also provide home repairs for the economically disadvantaged, including single parents, persons with disabilities, the elderly and veterans. We do this through the use of volunteers, bringing their skills, time and talents, providing the service at no cost to our clients, or accepting donations. During our last summer we helped 71 home-owners stay warm, safe and healthy in their homes and we are proud of that.
Our goals include to expand our youth outreach programs to a year round program and moving gatherings to online platforms to increase the youth we can reach. We also want to renovate a home to use for transitional housing for homeless youth or families in need.
