Berks Sinfonietta is a 501(c)(3) chamber orchestra that serves the Reading and Berks County communities. We strive to make great classical music accessible for all generations. The orchestra has adopted an inter-generational mentoring approach to both our music-making and community education. To learn more visit our website at www.berkssinfonietta.org During the COVID pandemic, Berks Sinfonietta produced a monthly digital concert series (14 performances) that allowed us to safely operate and continue bringing great music to our audience. That audience has grown in size and has embraced our virtual format. For that reason, we offer live-streams of our in-person concerts and educational programming. Please visit our YouTube channel to see examples of our past work at https://www.youtube.com/c/BerksSinfonietta We are seeking passionate, engaged board members who want to help us grow and expand our financial foundation, thus allowing us to reach even more new audiences in our community and beyond. Our board is a combination of volunteer work and fundraising. We are specifically seeking hands-on types that have any of the below skills: Individual Fundraising and Donor Relationships : This individual has demonstrated experience engaging with individual donors, sharing our impact, and encouraging repeat donations. This person would nurture our existing donor list as well as solicit new individual donors by forming personal relationships. Corporate Fundraising and Sponsorships : This individual has demonstrated experience soliciting and securing corporate sponsorships and contributions. Ideally, they have existing relationships but are also skilled at forming them. Volunteer Management: Volunteers help in every aspect of concert production, ranging from ticket-taking, distributing programs, serving as ushers, venue setup and take down, and even acting as stage manager. We are seeking an individual with demonstrated experience in organizing and managing volunteers, ensuring all required roles are filled before "showtime" and concerts can happen without a hitch. Responsibilities As a bona fide board member, you help set the strategic direction of Berks Sinfonietta. We constantly consider the changing demographics of Berks County and increasingly diverse audiences for classical music in Berks County. We are committed to building a better community by building programs that celebrate and sustain diversity and education. Members are expected to care for the organization and act accordingly at all times. Berks Sinfonietta board members also: Contribute financially at a level that is personally meaningful. Attend all board meetings (held either in person or via Zoom). Help recruit new board members within your network. Support the orchestra by contributing expertise, professional or personal connections, or other means. Attend performances, recruit audience members, and conduct other activities that introduce new individuals to our work. Represent Berks Sinfonietta professionally and positively in all respects. Currently, board members serve one-year terms with the possibility of re-election. Location We are a local nonprofit organization. Candidates from Reading or Berks County, Pennsylvania are strongly preferred. Because of the hands-on nature of the work, this position is not available on a remote basis.
