Legacy Motion is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization committed to sustaining the ongoing preservation and documentation of endangered ancient dance forms, as well as promoting resiliency, empowerment, trauma resolution, psychosocial coexistence, and peace building through restorative, movement based practices. Through interrelated projects Legacy Motion dedicates itself to evaluating, creating and implementing high quality sustainable programs based on experience and collaborations in the field.
Legacy Motion is a small organization that prides itself on it's three main objectives; collaboration, accountability, and sustainability. All of our current projects are collaborative efforts with likeminded organizations in the countries where we facilitate programs and projects. We have programs in Colombia, Venezuela, Kurdish Region Iraq, Portugal, Italy, Greece, New Zealand, the US and Honduras. Our programs are constantly expanding and are varying. We work with at risk youth, women survivors of violence, refugees and displaced communities, cancer patients, healthcare professionals and hospitals, and humanitarian organizations in our current programs. Founded in 2016 as a dance preservation and documentation organization, we expanded our mission to fill the multitude of gaps that our Executive Director started to notice while in the field concerning mental, emotional and physical healthcare options, practices and methods. Partners and collaborators include the Kurdish Ministry of Health, DUNNA, IraQueer, The Self Agency Institute, Hot Yoga Capitol Hill, Our Little Roses Ministries, American Rehabilitation Center, We Are Here Centre and many others.
