Description

Pelagios Kakunjá is a non-Profit organization established in 2010 by Mexican scientists. Our main goal is to study and protect sharks and Rays in Mexican waters, many of which are globally threatened or endangered. We aim to provide technical information for the regional management and implementation of conservation strategies for these species here in Mexico

This part of the world is one of only a handful of localities globally where a research team can monitor multiple species of sharks and rays under one roof. This biodiversity offers an outstanding global hot spot for students and interns to interlock both personal research goals and gain valuable marine experience. Pelagios Kakunjá is proud to be responsible for our permanent monitoring programs in this region with the most advanced scientific research techniques currently available.
