African People & Wildlife works to ensure a future where humans and wild animals thrive living side by side. We partner with local communities to create effective, sustainable solutions that improve the lives of rural Africans while protecting the natural world.

Description

Founded in 2005, African People & Wildlife is a recognized leader in the field of community-driven conservation. Each of our programs uplifts rural communities in Tanzania while protecting wildlife and their habitats. Our priorities include:

  • Empowering local communities to manage and safeguard natural resources for the mutual benefit of people and wildlife
  • Uplifting the livelihoods of rural people through sustainable, environmentally friendly enterprise opportunities
  • Promoting human-wildlife coexistence through innovative solutions that balance science and technology with traditional knowledge
  • Inspiring and supporting the next generation of conservation leaders through youth environmental education and scholarship programs
  • Conserving vulnerable and endangered wildlife populations, including one of the world's last remaining lion strongholds
