Michigan Indian Legal Services provides civil legal services to low income Indian individuals and tribes to further self sufficiency, overcome discrimination, assist tribal governments and preserve Indian families.

Description

Michigan Indian Legal Services provides civil legal services without charge to low income Inidan individuals and tribes throughout the state of Michigan from its office in Traverse City. Currently four staff attorneys are employed to assist clients. MILS is governed by a 10 member volunteer board of directors. Nine of ten members of the board of directors are American Indian.
