Volunteers are need to assist with sorting donated food items for the food pantry. Food items include dry goods, produce, breads and meat/poultry/seafood. Each week, Monday-Friday, from 9:30am - 12:30 pm volunteers are needed to help sorts lbs. of donated food. This food is handed out to those in need from the food pantry each week. Volunteers should have the ability to stand for the duration of food distribution, and be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

We need drivers who are able to assist with food pickups from local supermarkets that donate food to our pantry weekly. Pickups are typically, M-F between 9-11 am. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. CDL preferred. or let us know if you have a trailer with a hitch.

This volunteer position, preferably on a weekly basis, will answer phones and schedule appointments on a day or days when the Food Pantry is operational (Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM opening time until closing at 12:30 PM). The volunteer will assess the caller's needs and eligibility, then either schedule a food pantry or food locker appointment if we can help them and they live in our service area, provide them with information about another program we provide (if applicable), or refer them to agencies available to assist them if they are not in our service area or need assistance beyond the operational programs we provide. When setting up the appointment, the volunteer will obtain necessary demographic information, and inform the caller what they need to bring with them if it is their first visit. When the phones are not busy, the volunteer can help with responding to emails and data entry.

Help pack food for distribution to the clients on a day or days that the Food Pantry is operational (Monday through Thursday, 9:30 AM opening time until closing at 12:30 PM). This food is handed out to those in need from the food pantry each week. Volunteers should have the ability to stand for the duration of food distribution, and be able to lift up to 20 lbs. A grocery cart is available to help with especially heavy bags or boxes. Clients pull up curbside, and some volunteers are needed to bring bagged food from the pantry to the client's car or cart. When food comes in from various sources, the packer would help carry it in, weigh it, unpack it and put it on the food shelves in the proper location. The food packer will keep the shelves organized by label and follow the direction of the Pantry Manager.
