The Abode's mission is to provide a sanctuary for spiritual exploration and community, in harmony with nature. Each year, the Abode welcomes a diverse array of groups and events, conducts individual and group retreats, and sponsors interfaith classes, dialogue and programs.
The Abode is an interfaith spiritual and retreat center in Columbia county, NY. Originally founded by the Inayati Sufi order in 1975. The Abode campus is made up of several historic buildings built by the Shakers in the 19th century. It is on 350 acres of forest, mountain, farm, pond and spring. It is a place for spiritual seekers of all paths to congregate and practice. During program season (April through November) the Abode grounds and campus is rented out to groups. The Abode offers Sacred Hospitality to their guests.
The Volunteer Program is an exchange of 30 hours per week for room and board and life in the community. Their are three sessions April through November. Please check out our website description on the webpage: https://www.theabode.org/volunteer/
