To serve as a public & community resource that creates a sense of wonder and excitement about our place in the Universe and stimulates further interest in astronomy and science among all generations.
The Community Observatory opened in 2006. With an all-volunteer staff of docents, we are a free community educational resource. We provide free star gazing and safe solar viewing through our many telescopes, including our 17-inch and 14-inch reflecting telescopes. The Community Observatory was a Rotary Club of Cameron Park Centennial Project in recognition of the 100th anniversary of Rotary International.
