Mission Statement

To preserve and educate on the rich history of Punta Gorda Florida through collection, preservation, and indexing of documents, maps, books and other source material and dissemination of information about that history through outreach programs for students, historical researchers, writers, and the general public.

Description

Founded in 2012 to preserve and provide access to historian Vernon Peeples’ extensive collection of documents, maps, books and photographs related to Punta Gorda and the surrounding region of Florida, the Center has become a rich depository of local history. We now provide on-line and on-site access to an extensive collection of local history and an ongoing program of educational exhibits and presentations for the public.
