Mission Statement
The City of Albany, NY Office of Cultural Affairs plans, produces and co-sponsors an array of fairs, festivals, and concerts promoting art, entertainment and cultural interest for all ages throughout the year. This office researches and hires talent, programs children's activities, coordinates food and craft vendors, coordinates technical and logistical aspects, markets and publicizes events, solicits sponsorship, and solicits, trains and manages a core of 2,000 volunteers. This office is often called upon to execute one time special events, ceremonial programs, press conferences and other event activities occurring in downtown Albany.
Description
The major events produced include the Tulip Festival in May, the Alive At Five summer concert series, Albany Dad Fest in June, the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival in September, and the Last Run 5K in December. Other events that this office assists in producing include the September in the City Art Fair and the City Hall Tree Lighting in December.
These special events are 100% underwritten by generous local and national sponsors.
