Give a gift of your time by sitting with a hospice patient so their spouse or family member can run an errand or take a walk or shovel snow or even just take a nap. Many patients live at home with loved ones who really benefit from getting a break from caregiving. No hands-on care required. Give a gift just by being present. Background check, TB test, orientation, and mentoring with hospice staff required.

Do you sew? Sew with a group? How about using your sewing talent to sew busy blankets or hand carrots or afghans or prayer shawls or clothing protectors or mobius strips (seriously)? You can also knit or crochet hats and gloves for residents who have a hard time staying warm. We’ll provide you with patterns, and you’ll make a positive difference in the lives of patients! Busy blankets help soothe those with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Hand carrots help those with painful contractures in their hands. Afghans and shawls remind patients that someone loves them enough to create a beautiful and functional piece for them.
