Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to your community and make a difference in people's lives? AccentCare Hospice of Pasco County is currently seeking volunteers to serve as senior companions. By becoming a volunteer, you'll have the chance to provide social and emotional support to seniors in need, brightening their day and making a positive impact on their lives. Join us today and be a part of something truly special! Volunteers provide companionship through conversation, playing games, going for walks, and more! Foreign language skills are a plus. They play a vital role in the AccentCare Hospice team by offering empathy and support when it is most needed. They are the backbone of hospice care, providing exceptional care to patients, families, and staff. By contributing their time and efforts, volunteers make the hospice experience more manageable and fulfilling. Whatever your specialty or passion, there is a place for you as a volunteer with AccentCare Hospice. You can help improve the quality of life for patients and families who are affected by a terminal illness. You can volunteer all over Pasco, at our Wesley Chapel office, or from your home! We are currently looking for the following direct care positions: Respite Volunteers - provide 2-4 hour long visits to patients, allowing family caregivers to make a much-needed break and time for themselves. Veteran Volunteers - connect with your fellow servicemen and women in a way others cannot, celebrating their service and their lives. Music Companion and Spiritual Companion Volunteers - share your musical talent or spiritual comfort with patients and families to brighten their days. Art Classes/Crafting Volunteers - visit patient homes or facilities and facilitate fun crafting or art classes. Namaste - a specialized program for our dementia patients that uses light touch and sensory stimulation such as aromatherapy and applying lotion to the hands or face to promote a tranquil environment. Legacy Volunteers - visit patients in homes and assisted living facilities, using creative and artistic skills to create a legacy project that will help families remember their loved ones. Pet Therapy Volunteers - therapy animals can accompany you on visits to provide comfort and joy to patients, but they must be certified. Other (indirect) volunteer opportunities include: Office Volunteers - join us in our friendly Wesley Chapel office to assist with administrative work, Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible! Circle of Care Volunteers - make phone calls to a group of patients to "tuck them in" for the weekend and ensure they have the supplies, medications, and support they need. Calls can be made from our office or your own home. Additional training is provided. Bereavement Call Volunteers - touch base with individuals who lost their loved ones 6-12 months prior to see how they are doing. Calls are to "low-risk" clients, while our clinicians care for those with complex or long-lasting grief. Additional training is provided. Fill out the application at https://www.accentcare.com/volunteer/ to get started! -- Last updated 12/11/2023
