We are looking for compassionate volunteers who are licensed/certified Massage Therapists to provide services for our housebound patients. AccentCare Hospice is a nationwide hospice provider that serves patients in Pasco County. We are looking for compassionate volunteers to help our patients throughout the county, especially on the west side. Volunteers provide companionship through conversation, playing games, going for walks, and more! Foreign language skills (especially Greek or Spanish) is a plus. Volunteers are an integral part of the AccentCare Hospice team, providing compassion and care when it is needed most. The heart and hands of hospice, they provide a special kind of caring to patients, families, and staff through helping to make the hospice experience manageable and rewarding. You can increase the quality of life of patients and families who are affected by a terminal illness. You can volunteer all over Pasco, at our Wesley Chapel office, or from your home! We are currently training for the following direct care positions: Music Companion and Spiritual Companion Volunteers - share your musical talent or spiritual comfort with patients and families to brighten their days. Art Classes/Crafting Volunteers - visit patient homes or facilities and facilitate fun crafting or art classes. Vigil Volunteers - offer your comfort and presence to the patient and family during the last hours of life. Namaste - a specialized program for our dementia patients that uses light touch and sensory stimulation such as aromatheraphy and applying lotion to hands or face to promote a tranquil environment. Veteran Volunteers - provide companionship and support for a fellow veteran. Our site is Level 4 in the VA's We Honor Veterans program. Respite Volunteers - offer a much-needed break to a family caregiver by making 2-4 hour long visits to patients while the caregiver takes some time for themselves. Legacy Volunteers - visit patients in homes and assisted living facilities and use creative/artistic skills to create a legacy project for families to remember their loved ones by. Pet Therapy Volunteers - visit patients with your furry friend to provide comfort and joy. Your pet must be a certified therapy animal. Other (indirect) volunteer opportunities include: Office Volunteers - join us in our friendly Wesley Chapel office to assist with administrative work, Monday through Friday. Hours are flexible! Circle of Care Volunteers - volunteer for 2 hours a week, on Thursday mornings, by making phone calls to a group of patients to "tuck them in" for the weekend and ensure they have the supplies, medications, and support they need. Calls can be made from our office or your own home. Additional training is provided. Bereavement Call Volunteers - touch base with individuals who lost their loved ones 6-12 months prior to see how they are doing. Calls are to "low risk" clients, while our clinicians care for those with complicated or long-lasting grief. Additional training is provided.
