The SRHF Clinic officially opened November 18, 2002, staffed by Haitian health care professionals: including a part-time physician, dentist, and a full-time nurse. In addition to the Haitian staff, outreach trips by medical professionals from the United States augmented the care for the patient population.
The current clinic space now has three rooms dedicated entirely to patient consultation and treatment, as well as a dental office, pharmacy, clinical laboratory and patient triage room. As the number of registered patients surpasses 37,000 it is clear that the clinic must continue to grow as well. We have bought land and begun construction on a new health center that will serve many more patients in a setting the is tailored to providing high quality and dignified healthcare. We also venture out into surrounding areas and support a network of community health workers and offer a mobile clinic on a regular schedule to more far flung areas.
As we strive to treat the whole patient, acknowledging the complex web of biological, social, and environmental factors that impact human health, we have developed a number of community development programs that integrate our clinical services to maximize impact. Including education support, clean water initiatives, micro finance, and agriculture.
