DVI is a small nonprofit that has been in existence since 1985. We work to help disabled women & nondisabled women with disabled children help themselves get out of violent situations. We also provide education and technical support to other agencies concerned with working with individuals with disabilities. We help justice and law enforcement systems understand the complexities of violence and disabilities. We also help newly disabled women understand thier disabilities and where they can turn for help. We offer small financial aid for rent, medications, untilities, transportation etc. We offer peer support, referrals, court accompaniment and education.
