Description
The Salvation Army in Pasadena serves the San Gabriel community a variety of ways following their founders initial desire to bring "soup, soap, and salvation" to the streets of London. Their Pasadena location includes a five-day-a-week food pantry and social service referrals, 75 apartments for low-income seniors, after-school programming in partnership with the Pasadena Police Activities League, a vibrant place of worship, a gymnasium hosting indoor soccer and basketball leagues, and rentable community meeting spaces. Nearby, the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center serves 125 individuals in a six-month, cost-free residential addiction recovery program. And of course, we have a thrift store.
The Salvation Army has had a presence in Pasadena for over 131 years.
"Our mission is straightforward: to meet the needs of our neighbors, whatever that need might be," says Capt. Terry Masango, who leads The Salvation Army’s efforts in Pasadena.
