Mission Statement
Literacy Volunteers of Kent County, Inc. (LVKC), an affliate of ProLiteracy, is a non-profit organization which trains volunteers to teach functionally illiterate adults to read, write, and speak English. Tutoring is provided at no charge, is confidential, and is usually done on a one-to-one basis. We believe that the ability to read is critical to personal freedom and the maintenance of a democratic society. These beliefs have led us to make the following commitments: We are committed to the personal growth of our students.We are committed to the effective use of our volunteers.We are committed to improving our society.We are committed to strengthening and improving our organization. Celebrating 30 years of Tutoring & Learning - Literacy Volunteers of Kent County is a non-profit, volunteer, adult literacy organization, offering one-to-one Basic Literacy and ESL tutoring. LVKC also off free English language learner group conversation classes.
