Mission Statement

The mission of the Bronx Jewish Community Council is to improve the quality of life of all Bronx residents by offering a wide-range of social and supportive services and connections to vital resources that enable families and seniors to continue living healthier lives in their homes and communities.

Description

Bronx Jewish Community Council, is a non-sectarian, community based, social service organization that is available to all low-income individuals in the Bronx. Serving 10,000 individuals each year, BJCC specializes in addressing needs, particularly those of older adults aging in place. Services range from emergency cash assistance, connections to benefits and entitlements, care management, mental health outreach and other life-sustaining support services. BJCC’s offices house one of largest food pantries in the Bronx, with 2,400 individuals frequenting the pantry each month.

One of our most valued assets at the BJCC is our active Volunteer Program. Our volunteers make it possible for us to host multiple holiday celebrations throughout the year, deliver almost 2000 packages to our home-bound, make pantry distribution efficient and meaningful and assist with office duties which would be challenging to cover without their much appreciated help. Our volunteers enhance the work of our committed professionals, creating a team that is dedicated to our mission of enhancing the lives of the Bronx residents. Our volunteer program is essential to BJCC’s success.
