It is the mission of the Community Action Committee of Pike County to improve the well-being and independence of those we serve.
The Community Action Committee of Pike County (Pike CAC) is a community action agency organized in 1965 pursuant to the Economic Opportunity Act of 1965. The agency is structured as a private not-for-profit 501(c)(3) entity. The purposes of the organization as enumerated in the Articles of Incorporation included "to foster and promote planning services and development efforts for the mobilization and utilization of resources, public and private for a coordinated remedial attack upon conditions of poverty affecting the inhabitants of Pike County."
The mission statement for Pike CAC reads as follows:
It is the mission of the Community Action Committee of Pike County to improve the well-being and independence of those we serve.
To carry out this mission, the agency operates a variety of human services and community development programs including; employment and training programs, primary health care clinics, dental, behavioral health, programs for preschool children, toddlers and infants, pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, the area senior meals and senior citizens center, emergency social services, public transit, energy and housing-related services, financial literacy education, free tax preparation, and business development services.
