Mission Statement
Neighborhood Falmouth is a membership organization that provides information and services so that Falmouth Seniors can stay safely and comfortably in their own homes for as long as possible. We believe that sometimes when a Senior stops driving, or becomes less physically robust, or when old friends have passed away, living happily and independently can become challenging. Using the non-medical assistance of friendly volunteers, Neighborhood Falmouth members can get to appointments, go grocery shopping, and see friends, all while making new friends, resulting in a happier more viable life in the home they love,
Description
Neighborhood Falmouth opened in 2009 and over ten years has been serving Falmouth Seniors using the time and talents of a terrific corps of volunteers. In addition to providing local transportation to many members, NF also provides help with home maintenance projects, like changing a high light bulb, replacing smoke detector batteries, and getting the trash to the curb every week. Volunteers can also help with organizing paperwork, check writing, cleaning our a closet and organizing, as well by making friendly visits, phone calls, and walking together.
We know that there are widely documented medical problems resulting from social isolation and loneliness, and Neighborhood Falmouth, through it’s ongoing in-person time with local Seniors, addresses the need for connection, and the need to be seen and heard.
Neighborhood Falmouth hosts regular social gatherings for members, and also provides a resource list of service vendors for members and volunteers to access in helping with paid home maintenance projects.
Neighborhood Falmouth has been certified by Points of Light as a Service Enterprise. A Service Enterprise is an organization that fundamentally leverages volunteers and their skills throughout their organization to successfully deliver on its social mission.
