Mission Statement

The mission of Food Not Bombs is to recover and share free vegan or vegetarian food with the public without restriction to protest war, poverty and the destruction of the environment. Each of our over 1,000 groups is independent making decisions using the consensus process.

Description

We are a 30+ year old international, pacifist organization whose mission is to freely distribute donated food to people that can use it.

Every day local grocery stores must un-stock perfectly good food because of legal requirements, blemishes, and overly cautious expiration dates. We collect that food and get it to a central location where it can be given out.

Every Sunday we meet at 1pm in Tonsler Park at the corner of Cherry Avenue and Ridge St, where in addition to handing out free groceries, we serve a free healthy and hot meal.

We need volunteers with vehicles to help pick up and drop off donation. In addition, we need people with or without vehicles to aid in preparing meals, which is done at the Haven's commercial kitchen on the Downtown Mall. To begin volunteering, just meet us at the park on Sundays!
