Mission Statement

GLSEN strives to ensure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or expression. We believe that such an atmosphere engenders a positive sense of self, which is the basis of educational achievement and personal growth. Since homophobia and heterosexism undermine a healthy school climate, we work to educate teachers, students and the public at large about the damaging effects these forces have on youth and adults alike.

Description

GLSEN Central Ohio needs your help! We are a chapter of GLSEN and we provide opportunities and support to LGBTQ students and GSAs in central Ohio. We are looking for volunteers to do a variety of tasks. Anyone who is passionate about creating safe spaces for LGBTQ youth in K-12 education and promoting anti-bullying is welcome! We can provide service hour confirmation if needed. There are a variety of opportunities and commitment levels available, email us at our contact listed to find out more. We would love to have your help! We are especially looking for folks who are retired or are part-time workers to help us with our rapid response calls/emails!
