Description

Founded in 1996, the Search Dog Foundation (SDF) is a 501(c) non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Santa Paul , CA. We offer professionally trained canines and an ongoing training program at no cost to fire departments throughout the United States and Mexico. Our dogs are typically rescues that have high energy, tenacity and boldness making them ideal for search and rescue but often unsuitable for a family pet. After passing stringent screening and testing criteria , the dogs are then trained to harness their high energy, drive and tenacity into life-saving skill . SDF makes a lifetime care commitment to each dog. Once rescued, it will never need to be rescued again. If for some reason an accepted dog does not make it through our program it will be placed in a loving Life Time Care Home. We are looking for volunteers with dog handling experience to become members of our team , assisting our trainers and Canine Care Specialists with every day grooming, airing ,calming enrichment, etc.
