Mission Statement

GALS Las Vegas is developing a charter school with plans to open doors to 6th grade for the 2020/2021 school and expand over the following two years to provide a middle school experience tailored to meet the needs of adolescent girls. Our mission is to provide a personalized and holistic college preparatory education in a support environment that fosters the academic mastery and personal development necessary for every girl to become a powerful advocate for herself and a leader of her community. We envision a world where all girls have the opportunity to succeed.

Description

GALS Las Vegas is replicating a proven single gender education model that has successfully shaped adolescent girls in Denver, Colorado for over a decade. GALS Las Vegas has a highly diverse 8 women board of directors and is working with state authorities to put a charter contract in place. Volunteers are need to market and launch the school in advance of state funding being initiated. GALS Las Vegas will be the first all-girls public school to open in Las Vegas. We provide a whole-bodied education approach to develop girls physically, academically and social emotionally. Nevada ranks last in the nation for public education and tops the nation for sex workers - Las Vegas needs a school like GALS to start to reverse these trends.
